A Spanish farm employee who shared a video of himself diving onto a pen of piglets, killing dozens, has been jailed for 15 months for aggravated animal abuse.

It’s believed 19 piglets have been crushed instantly and an additional 60 have been put down due to their accidents.

Police mentioned the person, aged 19 on the time, dived into the pen 3 times.

The person, and a colleague who filmed the incident, have been ordered to pay €60 (£54; $70) every per pig.

The fines – a complete of €four,470 (£4000; $5300) every – have been paid to the farm.

Each males have been additionally banned from working with animals for 3 and a half years.

The pigs have been aged between 19 and 27 days previous and have been being transferred to a weaning room when the incident occurred in January 2016 in Huércal-Overa, Almería.

The video was shared broadly on internet messaging service Whatsapp.

Spanish police launched graphic pictures of the crushed pigs.

“I had no intention of inflicting any accidents, I didn’t kill any animals, I used to be smaller, I used to be 19 years previous and I jumped on the animals however they moved away,” the defendant, known only by his initials DAA, said.

DAA mentioned his colleague didn’t know what he was about to do when he requested him to movie it.

DAA apologised to the farm, however labelled the incident “infantile antics” and denied that any pigs died.
